Are you experiencing abuse?
Abuse is a pattern of behavior used to gain power and control over another person. It can happen to anyone, of any age, gender, or background. If any of these feel familiar, you deserve support.
- A partner monitors where you go, who you see, or what you spend
- You feel afraid of your partner's reactions or temper
- Someone controls your money, documents, or access to help
- You're pressured, threatened, or forced into anything sexual
- A partner puts you down, blames you, or isolates you from others
- You've been hurt, or threatened with harm, by someone close to you
Make a safety plan
A safety plan is a personalized set of steps to help you stay safe, whether you're in a relationship or preparing to leave.
- Keep important documents and a small bag somewhere safe
- Identify safe people and places you can go to quickly
- Memorize key phone numbers in case you lose your phone
Helping a friend or family member
If someone you love may be in an unhealthy relationship, your support matters more than you know.
